Why not let Pat Smear do the bulk of the interviews?
That would be awesome! 😎

I think Pat refused for a lot of years to ever talk to the press. He is not a fan.

One of the radio interviews they're doing today, Radio X I think, is Dave and Pat, so probably a chance to hear him a bit more.

Good! Because he's really interesting. Maybe he's mellowed in his age

Yeah, I don't think a band needs a guitar solo in every song, but this album definitely could have used a couple of really cool longer solos, especially in the songs with the 70s influences.

They were on Greg James on Radio 1 about 17:05
Chatted about the gig last night.....
Chatted with a couple of fans about the gig on the phone...
Talked about Timberlake on the new album...
Shame they missed the opportunity to talk about the ticket fiasco and remind everyone its been like it all along

He definitely looks happier/less tired in that recent interview.

Dang. From 5:53 Chris showing off what he'd probably like to play in Foo songs given free reign.

Alot of people have mentioned Chris but I haven't seen much talk about Nate.

I think maybe he's just super quiet and stoic?

During CalJam when Dave was introducing the band, Nate almost refused to play some sort of solo. It was weird and cringe-worthy.

I've seen the Foos several times. Almost everyone played something but Nate was sort of shaking his head refusing to play anything, even a simple riff.

I think Nate just wants to get in and get the job done.

It sucks cause Nate is an awesome bassist but I suppose that's how things are.

The reason Dave always talks more is cause I think everyone knows by now that he knows ultimately everything about the band and the creative process revolves around him.

During a "breakfast with Kevin & Bean" yesterday, they asked if there's anything Dave ever took to the band in the form of song that the band said "no" to and Pat said: Not really. Then they asked: "Is there anything the band ever takes to you [Dave] that you say 'No' to?" and they all sorta just laughed and said "Yeah. All the time"

I think as a fan of Foo Fighters you have to know who's at the forefront of this all. If you want to dig for interviews outside of Dave and Taylor, you sort of have to go out and find them yourself whereas all media outlets easily zero in on Dave and Taylor.

I may have misunderstood or missed something, but I heard something different - I heard them saying that it tended to go the other way round, Dave brings new stuff and they all think "yeah that's great" and then Dave goes "nah I don't like it".

About Nate, yeah, he's a quiet one for sure, but clearly that's the way he wants it.

Honestly, it makes a lot of sense that the interviews are focused on Dave, and as a fan I wouldn't want it any other way. He's the one behind all the creative ideas and decisions, so to me he's the most interesting by far. Although Taylor seems to be increasingly leaving his mark now.

I'm sure Chris is a lovely, interesting, talented guy, but he could quit tomorrow and the Foos would still be the Foos.

Yeah that was the line. But then there was that other part about the band coming to Dave with ideas.

I'm in no way talking shit. I love Dave and I love the Foos as a whole. Dave is the brainchild and the band helps him flesh out ideas and be as great as he is.

But you're right in that regard. Anyone can leave the Foos (except Dave, of course) and the band would move on. We saw that with Ron (old drummer) Franz (old guitarist)

We see that same sort of formula with Queens of the Stone Age. Josh Homme is the brain child. Members come and go but Josh is the heart and soul of that band.

Oh ok - I must have missed it then! In fairness I was being distracted by a small child.

Reminds me of that scene in Back & Forth when Chris suggests a guitar line and Dave goes "....I'd maybe not do that."

that was a fun show and interview, btw. Annoyingly it now seems to have disappeared, hopefully it pops up on YouTube sometime.
