Quick question, we're booked in to the Viking Hotel on Romford road (Stratford) which is about a 2.4 mile walk.. do you think there will be a steady rotation of taxis after the show? (i'll have a 9 year old with me who will no doubt be knackered by the time the show kicks out)

It would be quicker to walk plus the adrenaline of the night will keep her going

OK, fair enough.. just read some horror stories on trip advisor about it taking an hour to walk to stratford station after a show... and we're a fair way past there

Sure they could sell their London tickets on, but the promoters have got their sales.
Yes and no. Usually, people add additional dates at the same venue due to "unprecedented demand", when they clearly had always been planning to do those shows. Adding dates in other cities later is a bit more sneaky.

And you can't excuse the band entirely either. They aren't some little upcoming band at the whim of a promoter. If they said they wanted all the dates announced at the same time, they could get that done.

I'd definitely start leaving towards the end of the show to avoid the crowds (it can be a 10 min walk just to get out of the stadium and through Westfield), and there should be LOADS of taxis.

Depends if they close Westfield or not. They did to us after the athletics and marshalled us down one of two roads. I don't remember seeing taxis anywhere near, just seas of people!

There may be another way out if you cross one of the bridges on the other side of the stadium.

Yep can't disagree with you there. Y'know, as much as I'd like to.

This is why you always tend to see Band shows announced before Festivals, for what it's worth Reading normally announce the first headliner early December, if the Foo's are playing, could be why they've already put their tickets on sale.

Obviously if you can see the band at a festival, why would the casual fan pay to see them more than once.

This isn't far from where I live, so it's about a 20 minute walk from Stratford station (after the bunfight of getting out of the stadium and to the station). They usually shut down the road where the taxi rank is when there is an event on. However, if you can get over the Westfield bridge to the other side of Stratford station, there is a taxi rank there.

Oh in that case I forgive you

It would be nice to finally say hi in person. Did you buy tickets for both shows? (I still can't be arsed to read all pages...)

They will close access through Westfield. I was at the Athletics a couple of months ago and it took a good 20-30 mins to get out of the stadium and all around to the train station. There is also a massive building site in-between Westfield and the stadium (either side of Stratford Walk) which is closed off so no short cut.

If you're worried that it's too far a walk to get to your hotel you could jump on a bus from Stratford station (from memory the 25 bus goes up there which is 24hrs). It shouldn't be too rammed as most people will be getting the tube/train but as someone else said, it may be quicker to walk back.

I live nearby so happy to offer any local advice if needed.

So have received the email from the Stadium:

Thank you for registering your interest in Foo Fighters tickets, direct from London Stadium.

Our venue ticket allocation for both shows will be available to you on Friday at 9am.

These general admission tickets include access to the pitch standing area, as well as the option to take a seat in our unreserved lower tier seating.

We'll keep in touch, and on Thursday evening send a link to you on to ensure that on Friday morning you can secure your tickets directly from London Stadium.

So, the tickets are only the standing/unreserved which is no use to me because we have an under 14. Thought they would be for sale tomorrow, not Friday, not that that matters now anyway... So being in front of a computer at 9am tomorrow is actually of no use (in ticket terms).

Once i'm out of the stadium, how long is the walk to Ibis Stratford then? Thanks.
