To release them officially, with a pricetag would be pretty shitty and sell-outey given the opinions they've stated about it.

The whole aspect of wanting it for me is more out of morbid curiosity than music because I don't think it's going to matter what mix you use, a lot of those songs just aren't very good.

I think it would be both amazing and weird to hear a record from a band ready to break up and falling apart.

This might be a problem..

On the other hand, it wouldn't be the first time Dave changed his mind about something. Though, he has stated as recently as the B&F documentary that he doesn't like the MDD's.

Well but you can't really know until you hear it for yourself right? Come Back is different in a big way, and the part of Lonely As You that we got was a really different take on the song as well.

I think the difference between the MDDs and the final album, in many cases, is a lot more than just mixing. Some songs like All My Life changed a bit, but a lot of those songs got an overhaul after Dave got back from QOTSA. I think that had a huge impact on the final album.

I totally agree though, it would be really interesting to hear an album that was recorded with an overload of stress, fighting between the band, and dissatisfaction.

All My Life is really kinda the same song, there's one or two lyrical variations. It just sounds not as good. It's kinda just missing all of the same "oomph" to it. There's this weird compression on the "Done, done, on to the next one" screaming and the intro just does not give you chills the way the final version did because it's so quiet

Overall, I get the curiosity, but outside of Overdrive (largely the same, minus one or two lyrics and a much better production, IMO), there's nothing on there I listen to where I think "yeah, that's better than what they ended up with on the final record"

That's what gives SDRE's pink record its edge.

I haven't heard the All My Life clip in years, but wasn't the chorus just power chords? In the released version they use some weird open chords which sound a lot better to me. It opens up the song and lets it breathe a bit more and gives the G power chord in the bridge that much more power.

mdd would go along great with a "ten years anniversary deluxe edition"-type of thing. Too bad 1x1 doesn't deserve a deluxe edition.

Not to mention that would have been last year. Besides ironically 1x1 probably has the most unique special editions of any studio album.

I'd like to hear the ending of the demo, if you have a link.

He's talking about this I guess, and meaning the mashup ending isn't very good.

Well this is the source (plus the album version of course) so they didn't have much to work with.

Oh, God! Thanks, Percy!

I started liking the band (and I first came to the postboard) when these demos were spreading in Kazaa and other file-sharing services, so these are gold for me as a fan. I even dreamed about asking Dave for the MDD. Yeah, i know that's ridiculous.

I hope I can hear them in the near future.

Thanks again and take care. We depend on you.
