It's just so great to see him record! He does all of his drumming trademarks in the first couple of minutes which is excellent to watch. Great to see it isolated on the site as well. I'd love a FF album done where you can dissect and watch individual takes. I thought we might have been getting that with WL at first.

Having said all of that the track is very generic. The thing that makes it is the drumming in my opinion. The guitar tone is so dull and typical of FF in recent years. And the keyboard / piano parts are pointless and he shouldn't really waste time with that at all.

All in all, really interesting project, but for me the track itself is lacking and I can't see myself wanting to listen to it very much. However I will rewatch those drum takes many more times!

Watching Dave play drums is cool and all, but, have you seen him play the tambourine?!!

The piano cuts also crack me up. Getting Phony Baloney flashbacks every time.

This is really cool though. Need to get my hands on the isolated drums video <drool>

I also really enjoyed the beginning with the stories from the kids! Growing up, my high school was the only one in our tri-county area with the funds to afford a marching band. It brought me back to learning how to play Everlong & My Hero during lunch recesses in middle school!

This is neat!

Donīt really think much of the track as a whole / as a song - there are many great sections in it though and the overall energy is totally awesome throughout!

So great to hear DG drum in the isolated tracks, never will get tired of his playing!

There are some very, very good sections in it in which there could be a killer melody constructed over the track - canīt help to think this is what the FF could sound like today if things would have turned a bit differently in the past..

Great stuff!

Really love the short documentary, and seeing him play is always a joy!

The track itself is quite good too. There are some really powerful pieces in there. Will be playing this a lot in the coming weeks.

Gotta love him for doing this shit. Kudos!

Listening now, it sounds great, as I expected! Only about 1/3 the way through so far...

same

he has no headphones on so clearly he did the drums first, which had me wondering - how on earth does he manage to remember everything he has to play without all the other instruments to situate himself within the music? IDGI. But I'm not a drummer, so maybe that's just the way all drummers do it.

We are so fortunate to be fans of a guy and band that continues to provide audio and video of parts of their process.
This is very cool.
Like others have said the drumming, and drumming from memory for 23 minutes, are incredible.
I feel a lot of Sound City-like vibes and tones here and can't help but compare the two, mixed with Dave's comment of "spare riffs", to think these really are riffs he enjoys, but aren't quite worthy of Foo tunes.

The master is only third most watched. That's a noodle-scratcher!

Could be that people watch the master on another platform and come to the Roswell website (presumably where they got the stats from) specifically to watch the separate instruments?

That's what I did, anyway! And, I probably account for 2/3 of the percussions stats. There's just something about Dave playing the tambourine...
