What about Ireland!..

We don't have access to the iPlayer, it's UK ip addresses only.

Those of us with satellite tv can access bbc 4, but otherwise it seems it won't be viewable in Ireland at all.

I'm pretty sure this is essentially why it's on iPlayer, they are starting to put more exclusive new programming on there in the last year. The odd part is the splitting of them between TV and iPlayer, you'd think it'd be one or the other.

Certainly it's not an issue of scheduling, BBC4 is mostly repeats of the same shows over and over, it's been done to put new stuff on iPlayer.

I don't like to access those sites as I have an expensive apple MacBook (and slow Internet). I managed to see the first episode without having to use torrents or dodgy websites so hoping I can do the same with the rest of them..

I'm not sure most people will put the effort into hunting it down though, and FF are easily one of the most well known/loved rock bands in Ireland so it's strange they're not trying to air it here.

We never figured out what foofighters.tv is of course. Maybe they'll pop the episodes up there when it's been aired on HBO.. (Wishful thinking)

It's funny because BBC4 are having a Nashville season while Sonic Highways is on its iPlayer hiatus. And of course one of the episodes would've been a perfect fit.

Your own link refers to the real reason
http://thenextweb.com/media/2014/03/...player/#!zincS

They are simply slowly but surely pushing more and more online. It's not a bad move, in time that will be where everyone watches everything, your "TV" will just be plugged into the net. Possibly premature but why not head where you know things are going to end up.

Just remembered tonight while filing the first eps I meant to mention that...

The VHX episodes are available in three download formats 540P 720P and 1080P. AND each set of three is available in TWO audio formats: stereo and a 5.1 mix. So six versions of each episode.

Sets the scene for the physical releases to follow.

I just recalled a fun tidbit from the interview that the fellow at the Smithsonian had with Dave after the premiere of the DC episode

He asked Dave about the cost of traveling to all of these different places to film and record the TV series. Dave answered that instead of having to go and pitch the idea to a bunch of investors on a board of directors somewhere, that Pat said 'How did we get the money to make records back in the old days? We'd play a bunch of shows and save the money and then go into the studio when we had enough.' To which Dave said 'How big are the stadiums in Mexico?' Played two stadium gigs... Sonic Highways paid for.

THANKS MEXICO!
