Default CharityBuzz: ONE OF A KIND CUSTOM GIBSON GUITAR CREATED FOR & SIGNED BY DAVE GROHL

Serial #001.

If anyone has $10-$20k (or maybe more) burning a hole in their pocket, this looks pretty amazing.

Yup. Mostly fakes of the DG335 being sold out there these days.

It'd make me happy, my bank account less so.
Although I think my heart might still be set on the Pelham blue replica of times gone by

There were (argued but only slightly) 250 in pelham blue and 250 in black.

So as 001 of a guitar already out there (at whatever price) - how is this a "new" model ? The colour is new - but how do you equate that as a prototype unless this was in fact the very first one back whenever?

Are they saying it's different in some way and about to be released in gold, and if so how does it get a DG001 number? Wouldn't that be used in the 001-500 of the blue and black - or weren't they actually numbered? And if it is different how do they justify still calling it just a DG335, wouldn't it get a new model number, or suffix or something to note the difference?

And if it's finally a real new run there will be 250 plus others out there to buy at under 10K that you can actually play without smearing Dave's good name all over your arm lol

As something that can only ever sit in a box and get looked at Id sooner go mad and spend $800 on the most rare tape the guy ever made - oh no wait no wait... I did

But hey, I'm just a drummer, I know nothing about these stupid instruments with strings.. they do sound OK in the right hands I guess, and it's for charity so yeah go mad

Seriously though, I do really love it and I'm sure there are good answers to what I'm wondering but jeez the auction doesn't make them clear, not that any sane person is gonna spend 20K on this either way. You wanna play and sound as good you hunt down a genuine Trinny Lopez. Even a dumb drummer knows that much.

Eek! Re: CharityBuzz: ONE OF A KIND CUSTOM GIBSON GUITAR CREATED FOR & SIGNED BY DAVE GROH

To shell out 20k for a signed guitar you will never touch is a pretty big waste of money. At least some of the money is going towards charity.

Some dude sitting on a pile of money will buy it

Pretty neat though.

How is that a waste of money? Some people collect guitars as art pieces.

It's a waste of money if you really invest.
If you just have some extra cash and want to buy it then go ahead.

I imagine a guitar like that will be worth much more than $20k in 20 years. If kept in perfect condition of course. It's a pretty rare item, IMHO. That said, I can't buy something like that AND send my kids to college. So, kids, time to change your plans...

I'm just happy to see they are reissuing the guitar. The prototype would have been cool as a collector... but in reality something like that is going into someones well controlled collection room.

I'm fortunate enough to have the #1 of the Trini reissue but like this, I don't play it. I have another one that I play.

When this reissues finally comes..... I hope to be as lucky.
