Default Vinyl rip mp3 quality vs digital download?

Is the quality of the vinyl mp3 rip that was "cut specially from the vinyl recording" any better than the 320kbps download that we were emailed with our pre-orders? Maybe a dumb question but I'm curious.

Anyone compared the two? Is there a noticeable difference?

So we're saying I should re-download it from the Vinyl Rip?

Any guesses as to what the red parts are on this 'These Days' waveform? Shocking!

I'm really interested in hearing the Vinyl now but I don't have a functional turntable!

I noticed it, but I thought it was my technically untrained ears having "hallucinations".

it's quite sad, actually, it's clearly something with bad sound quality and yet it's how they choose to release it, what's the purpose?

odd, when i turn my cd up, it still sounds great to me! my speakers/system is pretty good quality too (before you discount that) -- not top of the line but i spent over $700 total on my onkyo system, w/ 5.1 surround etc.

This was a rhetorical question. The red parts are where the sound clips. I'm no expert but clipping is something best avoided right? The scale of clipping is rather obscene!

I don't get the tendency to have albums mastered with half of it clipped as hell.

The vinyl rip sounds amazing in comparison, I don't want to sound like one of those vinyl douche-bags but it does sound better...

It sounds warmer and more fuzzy, as opposed to what I can only describe as sheen and loudness on the CD, it should definitely listened to, and the best part is you always want to turn it up which is a nice feeling.

Just adds a little more pleasure to the listening, hearing it how the band wanted you to hear it rather than the big wigs in the loudness radio war.

I agree....can't believe that such a great album is a victim of the Loudness War. They could have at least offered a downloadable vinyl rip for anyone who has purchased the cd. I actually feel a little ripped off.

Unfortunately Loudness War is bigger then FFs. Maybe AC/DC can fight with it...or Rolling Stones, but who'll try??

VinylRip is OK. The problem isn't in quality of record, but in quality of our stereo systems. For iPods and car speakers everything is OK...I can't feel the difference betwin wav, or flac file and mp3. Do You?

In quality stereo even OBO sounds awesome.

I don't buy that. They have enough money to be able to decide that their
albums are not being brickwalled to death during the mastering process.
