They played Marigold at the acoustic shows.
The song was recorded with Krist Novoselic, while Dave played in Nirvana.

Still wouldn't call it a Nirvana song.

Well, it was the b-side to "Heart-shaped Box" I think before it was on Pocketwatch.

So yeah, technically it was a Nirvana song, just written and performed by another member.

But no, nothing else.

Wrong. Pocketwatch was released in 1992, Heart Shaped Box was released in 1993

It was on Pocketwatch before the Heart Shaped Box single, but the b-side was a re-recorded version.

I don't consider it a Nirvana song, Kurt had no involvement with it.

They play songs Dave wrote when he was in Nirvana. For example Marigold or Friend of a friend, which Dave obviously wrote about Kurt and Krist.

But it was on two official nirvana releases.

"The Heart-shaped Box" single and "With the lights out."

Dave Grohl wrote that song! Everyone thinks it was written by Kurt or someone but it wasn't it was originally called 'colour pictures of a Marigold', but when it was agreed that it would become a B side Kurt thought that the name was too long, so Dave agreed to change it to just 'Marigold', n that is the only input anyone else had in that song. Well that is what Dave once said in a Kerrang interview. The interview was in Kerrang Legends, the one about the Foos. Ive seen the foos play it twice live, and it is absolutly amazing. You can see true emotion in his face, and hear it in his voice as he sings it. Uttery moving!

Bye Bye

P.S. I personally think that is one of the most beautiful songs that he has ever written. Really touching and sensitive. My cousin (He's a complete Nirvana Nut!!!) used to play it to me all the time when he used to babysit me as it used to stop me crying, I think I was about 3 at the time. N after seeing them live, my bf always sings it to me when we have had a fight, as his way of making up, and it makes me melt!

I think the point has been made, Foo Fighters never play nirvana songs....lol :P

Marigold is a very good song, written by Dave Grohl (whether it is a nirvana song or not is your opinion) so it is Dave's song to do what he likes with. End of.

P.S. Awww
