Does it make me any less of a fan if I refuse to go to download to see them?

Most people no, but you, absolutely.

I'm finding it hard to justify Download to myself given that there just won't be enough bands there that I think I'll really enjoy. Especially having seen TCV a few times last year.

I doubt it. I like a mixture of Indie/Metal etc, which is why Reading/Leeds tends to appeal to me more.

Bah, been to Reading and Music out of the picture Download is by far a better festival, more to do in the village, a vastly more friendly atmosphere and a lack of idiots trying to burn it down on the last night,

Anyone reading this and thinking about going for the first time, I have to say I really recomend this festival! Great vibe, lots to see and do and a fantastic lineup if you like rock and metal.

If I'm spending 180 on a music festival, the quality of music is the major issue, not whether the accomodation is 5* or not or whether the other guests are annoying.

Ah, but then it could be said it adds to the experience if you are able to enjoy said music in a friendly atmosphere! hahaha, we will have to agree to disagree, I feel great ownership over Download as it was the first festival I ever went to and always have a great time at, Im also a boardy on the forums over there too. If you do go, even for a day, Im sure you wil enjoy it!

I must admit that Download is the best festival that has a ponytail : person ratio over 1:2.
