No. The Cure played the Big Gig when they recorded Godlike Genius as did the Manics the year they got the award.

Fair enough. As I say I don't read the magazine or really pay attention, I just see these emo tour bands on the NME tour when I get ticket emails from see/ticketmaster etc.

It's ironic now, when I looked back to the time when my sister and I got to meet The Cure backstage at one of their gigs.Where they tried to get us drunk (I was 13) .My sister had won a competition to in our local paper. We were walked past all the fans, through security and spent an hour or so with them prior to the gig -one of the weirdest I've ever been to ! But what I'd give now to have that same experience with the Foo Fighters !

Its all seated apparently, there is no standing in the whole venue. There was a cock up on See's ordering system so anyone that has a standing ticket...well hasn't. Sorry.

2 questions:

1 - how the fuck can you sit down in brixton academy.?
2 - how the fuck can you sit down at a foo fighters show.?

Do you think it will be more a case of tables on the bottom floor for the actual nominees and then unreserved seats for the "real" fans upstairs?

I've only ever sat upstairs at Brixton once, when I took a chance on seeing what turned out to be TCV's first UK show supporting Arctic Monkeys. Because it's unreserved you have to queue early to get near the front.

I think that's exactly how it'll be to be honest.

Although with the sloped floor and metal barriers, I don't know how they'll pull it off.

last 2 years of NME awards at Brixton had a small area for standing at the front, then behind them the floor is levelled out for circular tables of 'celebs' and bands etc
