Once And For All
Hi. Does anyone know the background to Once And For All? Specifically why it wasn't finished and was instead added as a demo?
It sounds pretty damn finished to me, although I appreciate that Dave or the band could think otherwise. And I know that demos are a good source of bonus tracks. So, not surprised they've added it - but curious for any further information on the track.

I like that song, but it is certainly not a finished or polished song.
I would love to hear what some of their other songs sound like before mixing and mastering.

It's considered a demo and sounds different not because of mixing and mastering differences, but because it would've been recorded in pre-production, when they just play through songs as a full band in the live room, with no overdubs. Just like the 'Come Alive' demo - bar a couple of small lyric changes it's the same song as the record, it's the same finished song, just it's all totally live with no (or limited) overdubs.
It's quite common for them to work on 18-20+ songs up to pre-production phase and then whittle them down to 11-14 for the final recording. In this instance though going by album whiteboards this one did get worked on in the final session, but never finished.
