He did that because all the girls in the front started to sing it and I think he was making fun of us! HAHAH! THAT was funny...and I wished I would have gotten that on video! But then again, I was screaming as loud as I could and it was extremely hard with the heat and humidity, so yeah, it was a puny scream! But still a scream right?! LOL!

I got a GOOD picture of the birthday sign you were holding up! Gonna post them today! I thought the crowd was great! Well...except my husband, who was right next to me on the rail, and I think was totally clueless! LOL! He's never been up front for any shows....I kept getting 'on to him' about it! HAHA! I was jumping around enough for both of us! I'm still paying for it too! OMG!

Being a ginormous Queen fan, I gotta mention how much I LOVE Taylor's drumhead.

I have to admit it took me a few minutes to realize who that was. I kept trying to figure out why Taylor had a porn star on his kick drum.

As far as the crowd goes it seemed typical for a festival. The rabid fans were mixed with people who were there because they know a few songs from the radio. Overall it looks like a less enthusiastic crowd but they were just less familiar with some of the songs. I met a lot of first timers that said they were going to try to get to Pensacola.

What an amazing weekend! I have never been to a festival that had multiple stages with consistently astounding musicians of all genres. Unless I die before next May, that's not my last Jazz Fest.

Despite energetic attempts, no act of any type that I saw could convince the crowd to sing along - it just didn't happen. Honestly, I think the Happy Birthday song had bigger crowd participation than any other attempt. I was back by the sound board (too hot to be squished in up front) and people would clap and fist pump but singing wasn't their thing. There was definitely more energy and enthusiasm for Foo Fighters than any other band though but nothing close to any other FF show I've been to. Virtually everyone I talked to after the show who hadn't heard the band before said they thought it was great. I did too...just very different. I wish you all could have been there.

I'm so glad to hear someone on this board say that. While obviously, Foo-centric, I'm glad we can appreciate so much. I'm a big fan of traditional jazz, blues, and so many musicians and genres outside of rock. We went Saturday and Sunday and wish we could have done all four days both weeks.

This is our 10th trip to New Orleans but our first Jazzfest. Definitely not our last one.

THIS!!! ^^^ I would have gone even if the Foos weren't there! OMG! I loved all of it! We spent most of our time in the Blues Tent too! But it was ALL GOOD!

I couldn't agree more. The quality and diversity of musicians at this festival are the best I've ever experienced. I thought the sound engineering at all the shows was top-notch as well. Everything was so clear and well mixed. I'm already planning to go next year, hopefully this time for both weekends.

As far as Dave's voice goes, I thought he sounded great. I saw them play last month in SA and thought he sounded better this time. I guess resting a bit is working out.

With you 100% - the only bad thing is its only physically possible to hear about 10% (don't check my math) . I think I should write the band a thank-you note because I've said I wanted to go SO many times but didn't actually get there until FF played. NOJ&HF will always be linked with them for me.

Not only was the programming solid for both weekends, the veterans kept telling me to come for The French Quarter Festival the week before NOJ&HF as so many of the fabulous local acts play - and its free. I hate heat and humidity (and I've been in Atlanta for decades ) but I swear I'd get over it to live in the middle of that music.

As far as Dave's voice - I thought he started strong and great but had to push like hell later - especially after White Limo. I love that song but would be happy to never hear it again live because of what it does to his voice. I'm terribly selfish but I want him singing as long as I can dance and I plan to dance for a very long time!

But that's just me. We'll have to have a Phieux Phighters (or just FF) Krewe in 2013!
