Default Permission to use a Wasting Light Image for Replacement Hoodie?

Does anyone know how I could go about getting permission to use the Wasting Light album cover art and foo fighters 'FF' logo for use on a one-off replica of a hoodie I bought at the Wasting Light tour in 2011 in Philadelphia (Wells Fargo Center)?

The hoodie has developed holes, and is faded and shrunk I'd like to make a new one on CustomInk just for myself.

Also, if anyone knows where I can buy an officially licensed version instead, that would be great too!

There are a bunch of Foo groups on FB. Maybe try posting there? I know several people who have found replacement shirts that way.

Yeah, I would check eBay or the Facebook groups to see if someone might have a similar one they were trying to sell first.

In terms of "homemade" shirts, I have seen ones at Foo gigs and for other bands before. You are technically supposed to ask for permission for such things, although I'm not sure how likely it is that anyone would get permission for it when it involves the bigger bands out there.

Depending on the way you planned to make it, if it was strictly one for just wearing around the house and you weren't making copies or trying to sell them, you might not run a risk of anything. I'm not a copyright lawyer, but these links tend to give out some decent information...

CustomInk won't make it without express permission from the content owner

I figured that was going to happen.

I'm an old punk, from back in the days when merch was hard to get unless you went to shows, so DIY was often the only way to go. I could probably make a Black Flag shirt in my sleep by now, lol. It's kind of fun, and being able to get the exact colors and kind of shirt you want is cool, so I've made several Foos logo shirts for my own use, using stencils and fabric paint.

But I've never paid a third party to have more complicated design reproduced, assuming they simply wouldn't do it. Making a one-off shirt at home, for your own use, or even a few of them to give to friends as gifts, is not a problem. But once money changes hands? That's when it becomes a problem. That's when a copyright/trademark holder can not only claim infringement, but also actual damages, and make things very expensive and unpleasant for companies like CustomInk.

So CustomInk just won't print anything that's copyrighted/trademarked unless they have express permission from the owner of the image to do so. They won't print Disney or Harry Potter stuff, or pro sports-team logos, for the same reason. Under intellectual property law, they simply don't have a right to do it, and the potential legal consequences are not a business expense they're willing to eat.

Which still leaves you without a replacement hoodie, and since it's a complicated image on a dark-colored garment, it's not an easy (or cheap) DIY project. Which pretty much leaves you with Ebay, I guess.

Maybe send an inbox to "Morning Breath" and see what they reply?
Honestly I don't know what the printshop is looking for, like, a letter signed by Dave or Gus?

Also, here's one "woman XL", not sure what makes it for "women", but it does say "Men's L". And it does look like the real deal and not some cheap knockoff... but who knows. Not sure what your take is on wearing used clothes.

Wait, you want to make your own hoodie and think you need permission? If that is all, just do it, no one will care.

The printshop is asking for authorization, not him. It's probably a proper printshop and not just a lousy ironing print decal.
