It's not really that simple. What is commonly referred to as a whole as 'Million Dollar Demos' come from several seperate sessions, as do the songs released.

Session 1 -

• The One
• All My Life
• Lonely As You
• Come Back
• Overdrive
• Halo
• Have It All
• Burn Away
• Tired Of You
• Normal
• Walking A Line

Only 'The One' is released from this first session.

Then they moved to Conway studios to work on them, session 2

• All My Life
• Lonely As You
• Come Back
• Overdrive
• Halo
• Have It All
• Burn Away
• Knucklehead
• Tired Of You
• Normal
• Walking A Line

Now I'm not 100% clear but from what I've been told and heard of the material all of the songs were continued on from the first session rather than starting from scratch. The clips that widely circulate were taken AFTER this second session, when they had worked on it some more. Whether recordings of the songs pre-Conway exist I'm not sure.

Also from this second session 'Tired Of You', 'Walking A Line' and 'Normal' were released in full.

It was after this second session that they scrapped everything and went back to 606 to do it all again from scratch, and hence the million dollar demos are born.

Session 3

• All My Life
• Lonely As You
• Come Back
• Overdrive
• Halo
• Have It All
• Burn Away
• Low
• Times Like These
• Disenchanted Lullaby

Basically all of the released 1x1, plus 'Tired' which survived from Conway.

cool, thanks for the info!

so is session 3 that you list the final recordings that were released for the album?
I have an album of it but am now allowed to share at all.
might be able to upload a clip of any that haven't been released, I would have to ask and also see if it would be okay to do so on here.
that's why i was trying to work out which hadn't had even a clip released!

Yes session 3 was all used for the album plus Tired from the second session.

All of the clips are from after the second session and what you have.

Simon, what about "Get Up I Wanna Get Down?" Other than from Taylor's rambling forum post gushing about the band having recorded this, have you ever heard anything else about it? I think we learned later that this was the working title of 1X1 and that Taylor used the title for an unrelated Coattail Riders song, but Taylor's post refers to it as a song.

yes, and if i recall correctly, the 'make me feel like shit' lines were removed/replaced w/ repeated 'who can make me feel like this'

do you - or anyone - have a good version of this to share? i have one that i recorded off a vid a long time ago but i think it is a shitty version.

I don't know about a version with lyrics mixed up but the 'clean' version of the song can be found on promo CDs for radio.

It does but for radio and the music video there is an edit version which removes the 'shit' and replaces them all with 'this'. Can't be saying 'shit' on radio or MTV can we.

"Dave thought it sounded like Devo meets Led Zeppelin. It reminds me of a Roger Taylor song called “More Of That Jazz,” from Queen’s Jazz record. It almost gets disco there for a second. And the title is a play on silliness, but it’s also a phrase, one of the working titles for the last Foo Fighters album.

Dave was living with us here in Topanga at the time, and everyone was going through some stuff. Dave is a real caretaker. He’s always making sure everybody is okay. He just really loves taking care of people he loves. And at that time we were all going through these crazy personal changes. And I said to him, “Sometimes, Dave, you’ve got to let somebody take care of you. You’ve got to get down every once in a while.” So the working title for the record was Get Up I Want To Get Down. I thought it sounded snappy. "

Taylor interviewed in Modern Drummer, 2006.

Studmore am I right in saying that the 'Comeback' MDD has not surfaced in any way? not as a clip or released as a b-side etc?

I have looked around and can only find a live version of it out there

There was definitely a clip of the studio version as I remember doing an edit that used the live version with the clips that were available edited in there

Yeah there is a Come Back clip, it's not as common as the others. It was mostly the intro from what I remember.
