How about the rock club Arlene's Grocery? It's tiny but cool and has a big ass bar.

I'm still holding out for Irving Plaza. Nothing booked on Friday. I missed out on the gig there in '07 (the memory of hitting re-dial on Krock over and over for hours on end still haunts me), so I am determined this time around.

I think it's a toss up between Irving Plaza and the Hammerstein. I'm hoping they do the in person only sales again like they did in Seattle. Easier than competing on-line for tickets.

I'm betting on Irving plaza. Did a stupid test to put irvingplaza.com/foo or /foofighters and it redirects you to home page. Did the same thing with Hammerstein (http://www.mcstudios.com/foo) and it says page not found.

I'll be in Mexico for the week and I'm hating myself for not being here to get a freaking ticket!!!

My dad is here from Brazil, it would be awesome to watch my fav band with him!!!

Ugh!!

Austin City Limits in Austin

I tried to think of venues like this in NYC. Not just small, but significant. With all of the venues that closed in Manhattan in the last 20 years, the list is pretty small. Tramp's, the first place in NYC that Foo Fighters played, is gone. So is CBGB's. So is Wetland's. So is Roseland. So is just about any other historically significant music venue.

The only ones left are the Hammerstein (where they played with the Sound City Players) and Irving Plaza. Both small venues, and both available on Dec. 5. But -- correct me if I'm worng -- neither jumps out as particularly significant to the history of music in NYC or to the band.

Then I thought MADISON SQUARE GARDEN! Significant both historically and for the band. But it's booked on Dec. 5, and doesn't quite fit with the vibe of smaller venues for this tour.

Then it hit me... THE ED SULLIVAN THEATER! It's meaningful both historically and to the band -- they've got a great relationship with Letterman, they did the week-long residency there, and played that special show for the release of Wasting Light back in 2011. And since they don't record there on Fridays, the Theater is available on Dec, 5.

So that's my bet, folks. We'll see if it comes to pass. No matter where they play, we all know it will be a hard ticket to score.

P.S. LOVE the new album!
Don't forget Dave's already said without Worldwide Pants SH quite possibly wouldn't have happened, nor that DL retires next year. As a wrap up to everything I'm calling it a no brainer that you are right. They started this malarkey with a week on Letterman - then will end it "there". After all...

"In the end We all come from What's come before". It's tattooed on the boys arm.

The band is doing The Tonight Show this week so they will definitely be in NYC. If this is a box office only sale its going to be tough.

My buddy works over at 30 Rock for NBC. He heard from somebody it will be Irving Plaza. He suspects tix on sale Wednesday sometime, but who knows.

If they are trying to minimize scalping, I would think no advance sale and just sell tix at the window would be the way to go.

Irving Plaza is a great place to see bands, especially a big band. I saw Pearl Jam there in 2006. We had to wait in line overnight at Tower Records for that one. I would expect a similar situation for this. I felt like I was too old to do that then, so I def won't be doing that this time. Hope you all have good luck!

Put me in the Irving Plaza or Hammerstein Ballroom guessing camp.

Any thoughts on line up time for Wednesday if the ticket sales are in person?

Glad to get some GA tickets to the Citifield show this morning but really need to make it to this one. Went to the amazing secret 9:30 Club show back in October 2005 and it was the best I've ever seen them....really something special about seeing them in a great small venue.

I'm going to be in New York this weekend(first time) and it would be amazing if I could see this show. Only problem is I won't be arriving until Friday morning so I'm hoping for an online ticket sale. Last time I saw the FF in a small club setting was when they played Vegas years back at the Hard Rock Hotel. Great time and it would be cool to experience that again in NY.
