Vinyl Reissues pre-order?

My TCATS has arrived. It sound fucking amazing. It's everything I had hoped it would be. I gave up collecting vinyl when the album first came out and I couldn't find a copy. I'd like to go back in time and punch my 17 year old self in the face for that one. If only I'd know the internet would come along lol..

I am noticing what I think is a slight bit of limiting on the highs on dave's vox on See you, but other than that, ive got no complaints. I'm hearing Nate's basslines clearer than I ever have before.

Alright, time for me to step off my soapbox. I hope my insane ramblings have helped at least one of you.

Edit: One last thing. These records arrived dirty and static-y as all hell. The white sleeve that the records are stored in seems to have a lot of fine paper bits that has created a tedious cleaning session before I could play any of them. So, make sure you clean them before you play them so your needle doesn't get static/dirt buildup!

Bonus post: I just downloaded the mp3 copies that come with each album..the song "the colour and the shape" comes with the album download!

Bought S/T today, and its freakin great.
I was a little upset that there wasn't a detailed sleeve, but i can live without that..
Also, since everything is packed onto 1 disk, theres really isnt much room between songs, but it's not that big of a deal either.
Overall it's pretty amazing, and the Mp3 download was just as amazing.
So i think I'll be going back to my record store and buying a few other ones soon.

can someone show some images of the reissues? failing that some more detail on them. are the 2lp's gatefold sleeves? are the inner sleeves printed?

The packaging is rather ,eh, cheap? They are not gate fold, and there are no liner notes or anything. The LPs are just in plain white sleeves (lined w/ a clear material.)

Robert, by no means was I trying to sway anyone one way or the other with my posts. I don't have half the equipment that you do, and everything I said was just what I was experiencing while listening to the vinyls. No one else was speaking up about them, so I felt it was my obligation to do so, considering I have picked all of them up. My hearing is not the best. I've been playing guitar without earplugs for 17 years lol. I think the fact that my hearing is damaged, and I could detect new sounds through the vinly though says something about the quality.

I'll try to give 1x1 another listen on Monday and see if it was just "in the moment", but I'll admit maybe "murky" wasn't quite what I was looking for, it just seemed kind of flat and loud.

I listened to all the albums today in the sun here in NZ, one by one ...

At 106 db on Magnat speakers through a Project turntable via a Yamaha 200 RMS amp.

Sounded just fine to me! And the neighbours 4 doors down too!

What the fuck is a reissue again?

So, after writing this i went ahead to ebay and put a bid on a sealed IYH box, sealed. I accidentally won it at 60 dollars. Now im poor.

I'm wanting to get the vinyl reissues now with the mp3 downloads...after reading all of this. Does anyone have the ESPG yet? That's the only one I can't find on Amazon as a 'reissue'. So I wanted to order it from foofighters.com store...does that come with the download for sure?

ESP&G hasn't been re-issued, it's still available as 'new' so no it won't have a download.

Excellent accident - $60 is at the top end of what it went for sealed 1-2 years ago. It has sold for up to $100 US MORE than that since Wasting Light was released. Open it if you want of course, but you can play a reissue, and opened copies will be worth about 2/3 of sealed ones at most in a couple of years.

My guess is this will probably be the first and last time you wonder if it was worth it - my new turntable has been a massively satisfying investment, and I'm pretty sure the records are thanking me too - a 20 year old stylus design, even the new replacements for it, aren't quite the same as the new ones.

My top tip - decide what youre favourite top 20 albums are - and if they are on vinyl get them. Then ask yourself if it was money well spent or not
