Re: songs feeling more or less like Foo Fighters........I've noticed over the last few decades that a lot of songs don't seem that way at first, but if you listen to em a little, especially in the context of an album, that moves the needle.

I wouldn't have really called The Pretender, Something From Nothing, or All My Life typical Foo Fighters songs at a first listen either.

Yeah, I find at this point of following the band for 20-odd years, I now let my music tastes be shifted by them, rather than me putting a stake in the ground that they have to somehow meet every time they make an album. They're never going to shift me too much, which is why I liked the band in the first place, but I open to them taking me somewhere new as well, like they do with Sunday Rain or Zero Hour, for instance. I'm in for the long haul!

Absolutely love the album. My favourite from songs released before the album was TSIAN but now I actually prefer Run to TSIAN. But my favourite is La Dee Da, so incredible! And it was my least favourite on first listen.

that happened to me with The Line, it sounded so wildly different but it didn't take long for me to question how the fuck did that happen, that's one of the most foo fighters-y song on every level.

I totally agree. It's a really awesome tune. And I love how the drums sound.

I think on C&G the production is very different to other Foos albums so maybe that partly explains why some of the songs don't sound Foo-sy.

To me, Make It Right sounds like a song Collective Soul would do if they tried to make a "harder" record.

Hi!
i'm a little bit late to the party, but i've finally been able to have my first listen in semi proper conditions;

This album is a grower. Not the typical FF record. it's weird in a good way. i really like it.

T-shirt is too short
I relie did not like the live version of la dee da, but the studio version is great
Happy ever after reminds me so much of the beatles' white album
The voice (taylor's?) at the beginning of Sunday Rain is so John lennon solo.

As i said. i really like it. it's right up there with WL and TCATS.

really good album for me.

Losing interest a month after its release.
It was not a grower, I keep skipping Run, Make it Right, La Dee Dah, SIAN, Zero Hour, Sunday Rain, C&G

Is it my age (35)?
Is it that it's not an amazing record?
Is it the music industry pushing tons of artists, singles, albums out every day?
Is it the lack of platform (MTV/VH1/Fuse) re-running promos and videos each day?

This saddens me a lot. It's not exclusive to FF, every release by bands I enjoy a lot really pass me by, unless it's a stellar album.

I get what you mean.
I have the same filling regarding music in general.
In my case i think it's more due to a lack of general focus and brain availability.
Having a time consuming job, kids etc... i don't have as much time listen to music the way i used to, want to.
So when an album is not an instant hit, i forget it quite quickly.
also the abondance of releases theses days is staggering.

I have every Foo song on my phone on shuffle play. What I have noticed is that when any song from C&G plays, it stands out from a lot of the tracks from previous albums. There are obvious exceptions to this, however the C&G tracks sound more mature and considered somehow.

Probably an obvious statement given the band is that much older

Anyway, I've listened to it 50+ times and still not tiring of it...in fact I'm still hearing parts that I've not noticed in previous listens

i stop playing each album intentionally. Back in their heyday, I had FF, TCATS, TNLTL in regular rotation for a few years, but I guess I played them too much, I don't really listen to them anymore.

So for the past couple albums, I play the hell out of them for a month or so and take them out of the rotation, just to try and ensure I don't tire of them too quickly.

Well, here's a weird-as-fuck cross-promotion. (I mean, besides DG knowing Jeff, there is no reason for this to be a thing.)
