Default S/T Vinyl first pressing?

Is there anyone who knows what number the first press is? I have a US print but i doubt it is the first press.
Someone who can shed a light on this?

I can't remember if mine was a first press or not, here are the details:

Barcode: C1 7243 8 34027 1 7
Side 1 Matrix (handwritten): C1 7243 8 34027 1 7 - A - Z1
Side 2 Matrix (handwritten): C1 7243 8 34027 1 7 - B - Z2

There is also an inscribed logo which is an R and C inside an S.

I have exactly the same.

The story behind my record was that i went into my local recordstore about 5-6 years ago and asked for FF vinyls. One week later they had this for me for about $12 and they claimed it was from one of their friends collections. The one who had the collection they said was a huge nirvana-fan back in the days and had purchased all FF too and he had sold of all off his records that wasnt Nirvana.

I doubt it is the firstpress because off the price i bought it for but im happily wrong

I got mine on ebay, auction details are long gone of course though. I THINK I got it from a trusty Japanese seller, but I can't be sure.

I've got the exact same, for 40 euro's from an auction site, claiming it was a first pressing.

I don't know if it's true, but I don't mind really

Question Re: S/T Vinyl first pressing?

i have a question for all you foo-experts: yesterday i picked up a vinyl-copy of the debut-album for cheap at a local 2nd hand record store (frankfurt, germany). i am not too convinced though that it is a first press or even a genuine copy. therefore i would like to know how many pressings of this thing exist and if there are any known counterfeits (similar to the ones of t.c.a.t.s.)?

some info on my copy:

the cat.nr. is: 724383402717 - printed in uk (according to discogs this was the actual cat.nr. for the official british release).

matrix: 8340271-A / 8340271-B (both handwritten/engraved)

the record comes in a plain white dustsleeve. the outer sleeve has the regular artwork.

any help or info is highly appreciated. thank you

Sorry to say if it's in a plain white dust sheet I think it's fake. The white sleeve should have a picture on one side, and a few details on the other if memory serves me correct. Unless someone lost/damaged that on yours and replaced it with a plain sleeve.

@studmore: thanks for your quick reply. i would not be too disappointed if this thing turns out to be a fake since it was pretty cheap anyway. i share your concerns though. the white sleeve made me suspicious as well. but is it safe to say that the european version of the record (i.e. the one from the uk) had a printed inner-sleeve similar to the us-copy? i know lots of records from that era that came with a printed dust-sleeve in america but without one in europe (for example the "temple of the dog"-lp)...

My copy is US and they may be different run off etchings, its late for me here but I will take a look later - or bump this thread to remind me. Dont give up on the fact that its really very common for true vinyl to be thrown in non standard sleeves, especially plain ones that aren't trying to be something they're not. And especially by dealers storing records and wanting to give them some protection. The matrix is all important, but I cant confirm for certain without a UK copy and those matrix numbers aren't listed on Discogs.

Still every chance your vinyl is real though, that was the LP cat number for the UK for certain. And someone here will already have it though for sure.
