Default Just saw my first FF concert. Wow.

Bear with me if this is sappy. So I went to the Bossier City, LA show. For those that don't know, Bossier City is the smaller, across the river companion to Shreveport, the 3rd largest city in Louisiana. They have the nicer, newer arena so it gets all the bigger shows. I was really surprised they were able to book the Foos, though. But after landing Paul McCartney last year, I guess I shouldn't be. But usually, given the area, it's just a lot of country music BS. At any rate, I felt bad b/c the show didn't sell out completely. It was close. But still. The fact that it was on a Sunday night probably contributed.

Anyway, what a great show. It lasted til almost midnight. I was in the cheap seats but still really close to the stage. I admit I've always been a casual fan but hearing all those songs one after the other just brought how how much I DO listen to the Foo Fighters. I'm 42 and was in high school when Nevermind hit. I always had one foot in the Nirvana/Sonic Youth/Jane's Addiction/Dinosaur Jr side of the "alternative" explosion and the other in the sorta lighter side w college rock groups like R.E.M., 10,000 Maniacs, Violent Femmes etc. that I had been exposed to earlier, thanks to my brothers being 6 and 8 years older than I was. Throw in some late 80's skate punk for good measure. Never really was a big Pearl Jam fan, though.

But that movement saved us from so much terrible crap music. Hair metal was over and the schizophrenic pop music scene was alternating between things like Garth Brooks and MC Hammer and Vanilla Ice. All the wannabes were wearing "hammer pants" one day and Wranglers the next. It was weird. But I guess it was a sign of things to come. The only time I heard any good music was from the local college station. To see/hear Dave, Pat, and the gang still making incredible, relevant music is just awesome. I've definitely had to build a few new playlists after that concert. Hope I get to see them again one day.

I was at this show too - I really liked the arena and the staff were great...no bullshit with running for the rail....it was very well managed.

Foo never disappoint at a live show.....and believe me you will be looking for tickets to another show in the next day or so....its addicting!

I was in the upper level looking straight down at the rail. Saw one poor guy faint/pass out and have to helped out by security. That was all the drama I saw. Yeah, it was a great show. I convinced my wife and six friends (4 of which had probably never intentionally listened to the Foo Fighters) to come and they all loved it.

It's always good to see the Foo Fighters live. They're awesome.
