Thumbs up Re: New Album back to basics

Oh, this news is so exciting! Thanks for posting it, and I'm happy to hear that the album will be on the heavy side. When it comes to any given rock band, I generally prefer rockers to power ballads and acoustic songs. I also hope it put to ease the minds of those who think the Foos are starting to lose their edge.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to the upcoming album - and, as much as Them Crooked Vultures are a great super group, it will be totally awesome to hear more Foo.

Well Dave says that one of his favorite albums is the third one whcih was recorded in his basement. If thats anything to go by then we can forget anything heavy.

Well not to mention in most reviews the third album was more of a musclar sounding production by the band.

Also if it's any constellation, this album will be a lot louder without a doubt, but, considering it's analog it will sound massively different, less compressed.

Not really. He was talking about the recording process and general vibe of recording in a comfortable location as opposed to an expensive studio with the clock running, not the actual heaviness or lightness of the songs themselves.

I'm not normally one to correct every little spelling/grammatical error I see on the interwebs, but I couldn't resist this one because it made me laugh and I needed that today, so thanks. It's "consolation."

Well if by "musclar" you mean "muscular" then you are very wrong. For a start I don't know of any reviews that say the third album was more muscular the than first two. It really wasn't. You would have to be deaf to think that TINLTL was in anyway more muscular than TCATS or the debut. The only really muscular song on TINLTL is Staked Actors.

Maybe he meant, if the stars the lined up correctly, the next album will be a lot louder.

Anyway, yeah, I would like for the new album to really rock! I'm not gonna knock their acoustic stuff, even though it's not my personal preference. In certain moods, I could even come appreciate that side of them.

In general, I really can't stand rap - but, then again, I like the rapping that's done in Red Hot Chili Peppers and Rage Against The Machine. So, as such, it might be interesting.

I myself am in favour of a full-on rock albums - although, soft/hard fusion songs (a la Led Zeppelin's Over the Hills and Far Away) would also be cool. But, yeah, I'd rather not have completely slow songs.

Then, again, it's not my place to tell the Foos what to do. I'm sure that, whatever they come out with, would be completely awesome!

I can't believe you wrote a serious answer to my statement.

Hell yes! I can't wait till the new album comes out!!!
I'm sure it's gonna kick as much ass as the rest of their albums
muscular or not, since I am also a huge fan of their acoustic and mellower songs.

I don't get why 'muscular' keeps getting thrown around.

Damm, where did the c go! yes we all make typos. Don't get me wrong I think TINLTL is a good album, its got some great songs, my favorite being Gimmie Stitches. But the album has to much mellow and soft. I just hope people are right and that this album is going to be heavy. Thing is every time a new Foos album is anounced its always going to be really heavy but then turns out not to be.

Is there any bad song in any FF's album???
Is there any other composer as Dave, unable in writing bad songs, and bad musics and arrangements???
He's really an unmatchable artist!
and the rest of the band, too!!!
I think it will be a great new album, they never repeated themselves,so it will be a new great work of the band!

Thumbs up Re: New Album back to basics

I don't get what people mean by the word "muscular", either.

I just watched the video where Dave and Taylor performed Rock and Roll with Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin, and it was awesome! It's sort of a super group comprised of my two favourite bands.

This may be a controversial opinion, but I see Foo Fighters as almost a modern day Led Zeppelin. Both bands have been quite experimental in their works. There are a few Foo songs that I'm not too fond of, and there are also a few Zep songs that I'm not too fond of. I don't consider them as bad songs, though - just songs that are not of my personal taste. Then there are also songs that I can appreciate, when I'm in the right kind of mood.

I really think the Foos should cover a Zep tune. I know they won't ever seriously cover Stairway to Heaven (which I'm not too fond of, anyway) - but I think it's be cool for them to cover, say, Over the Hills and Far Away. We have Dancing Days by Stone Temple Pilots and Good Times Bad Times by Godsmack, so I think it'd be cool for the Foos to also cover Zep.

Anyway, I trust Dave to continue providing us with awesome and entertaining music.
