Default I wish they would sell the recording of each concert

I was at the 11/8 concert in Charlotte and I found a bootleg of it on the other forum, but not surprisingly it sounds horrible. I don't know if this has been discussed before, but I think it would be great if the Foo Fighters would release proper recordings of their concerts kind of like Pearl Jam does on their website. They sell the CD for $17, and the digital download on either MP3 or Flac, $10 and $15 respectively.

They don't have to be mastered by an engineer or anything, but a decent recording off the sound board will obviously sound a thousand times better than that coming from a guy holding a small digital recorder up in the air, with a microphone that is far from being designed for that kind of volume and getting an awful lot of ambience.

That was my first Foo Fighters concert and it was one of the best times of my life, I wish I had a good quality recording of it to keep the memory of it fresh. I'd be more than happy to pay $20 or $30 for it.

If they were recorded this would be great and probably popular, I would get the one from Phoenix..

It would be awesome if they did. I know Linkin Park and Metallica do this and the quality is good. It's special because you'd be able to get the show/s you went to and remember them forever in decent quality.

If they do that, some people would just buy the bootleg instead of actually going to the shows.

Seems to work with other bands though. If they were reasonably priced they would sell.I bought a Kiss cd from one of their shows last year for 14.

I doubt that. I see it more being the other way around, people will hear how great a show was and want to experience it for themselves.

I really wish there was a recording from my first FF show.

Indeed, there are plenty of unofficial high quality live recording out there for free but it doesn't stop people going to shows. In my experience the number one reason people who aren't collectors want to download shows is as a memento of the show they were at.

I think that would be a good idea, I'd buy a recording of a show I went to. I did this for another band a while back, you signed up before hand and paid there and then. They gave you the option of coming back afterwards and waiting about 20 mins while they burned the cd's or them sending you out a copy in the post. I had to leave to make the last train home, I got my cd in the mail about 3 days later the quality was great.

What? I can't see that ever happening.

A live CD is never going to replace being there, even a live DVD/Blu-ray won't do that. It may capture the songs, but not the atmosphere that people see the bands for. If anything, most shows will be momentos for people who were there in lieu of a t-shirt or poster or a tie or whatever with an occassional show with some rare songs or whatever maybe proving more popular.

Meh, they just have the same setlist every time.

My opinion will change when I finally go to a concert.

Yeah but like I said unless you're a collector like me most people only want the show they were at, so the fact the set is the same for every one is irrelevent to them, they'll only be buying one.

Exactly. I'd love to have the show I went to, and just remember those little things that only happened at my show, or that I would remember. That'd be so cool.
