True, many of those songs I included purely because they have been playing them semi-regularly the last few years, so they themselves seem to see them as something that can/should work with most crowds. It's not like the songs they played half a dozen times and then never touch again, or the songs they play as a one-off every few years.

I mean I don't really disagree with your assessment but it is bonkers that even singles, fairly popular at time of release, are now seen as semi-rare that big crowds might not know. I suppose the argument could be that if they played them more often people would enjoy them, but then you're into paradox territory I guess.

PS if you're reading these posts Brett, they're not for turning into a "news" article. Thx.

no argument from me here. It is bonkers and unnatural and wrong!

also with each new album they have more big songs to add to the core setlist, so there's less and less room to be creative. I don't think Run or TSIAN are going away any time soon.

Brett you should know this spoiler is cursed and reposting it will trigger a lifetime of painful warts
Spoiler!

I would have a lot to say about the setlist subject but now that Skin&Bones seems to be gone I'm happy with that

I was at the Saturday night London Stadium and was really glad that they played Rope. But I was surprised at the lack of reaction it got from the crowed when compared to the other Wasting Light songs; Rope was the first single off the album but both Walk and These Days are bigger live favourites, especially at the stadium shows with all the casual fans. I am sure it wouldn't be the same if they were playing a smaller club venue full of more dedicated fans of the band.

As for Good Grief, yeah its one of my fav songs off the debut album, but as for the reasons given above they are never gonna be playing that at the stadium shows.

This is a Call seems to get in the set quite a lot, and I loved the lighting work they did on Saturday for this song which showed Dave in like black and green colouration. It seems that even Big Me is lucky to make it in these days, and we didn't get Times Like These on the Saturday night either. They have got plenty of songs to choose from but it is obvious that there are certain ones you're always going to get.

What I don't understand is if the Foos won't play lesser known songs, why do they extend out songs to 15 minutes? (or so it seems).

I love live music and I love the guitar, but dang...they drag out a song too long. They could EASILY fit in several more songs during that time.

This theory of only playing for the new fans is something that I have trouble swallowing. I'm not sure a new fan is there for the extended jam session.

And the whole drum solo rising up in the air is cool, but it's an 80's thing. Time to focus on the music.

The assumption is that the extended jams and drum solos are to give Dave's voice a rest throughout the show, but it's always just been an assumption. AFAIK no band member has really discussed it.

I want to hear My Poor Brain live, it's got a swear word in the lyrics so I'm sure that's even more reason for Dave to do it!

that seems one of the biggest reasons, at least to begin with

That's certainly the most solid guess, along with probably just wanting to do something for a bit of show.

I had such high hopes for Generator in London... they've been playing it semi-regularly this tour. But no luck
