Anyone else feels that Erase Replace was ruined by the chorus?
the song is very ass-shaking... but the chorus is just boring. The vocals ruins it for me... Were not for this it would be on the album top 3 for me

Yep.

I love Long Road to Ruin. It sounds like it'd fit right in on TINLTL.

Allright Im one of them, who loves the new record.

I cant unterstand the peaple who dont like it.

Home is the only song i dont actually like.

"Long Road To Ruin", "Let It Die", "Statues" and The Ballad are okay.
"Summers End" and "Stranger Things" are Great.

The rest is fucking amazing.
The only thing i dont like are the long album titles

I love this album actually, it's very nice, very loud. Playing acoustic guitars also give you a lot more tonal variety, you can do that with an electric guitar as well (I'm not bitching about it).

As bands progress, they get better. Regardless to what style it's played, I think you can potray far more emotion with just an acoustic guitar. I love the album.

The Pretender fucking rules period! I haven't heard the whole album yet, and I love home too, that's a classic tune. Dave as pretty much done it again.

I think as time goes on, things will get better and better.

I get the TINLTL feel with Summer's End...
Funny how everyone i talked to loves Long Road and I, on the other hand, can't decide between it or Statues to get the Worst Song award.

And the sad part is that I've have already heard the album about 10 timesand still can't like these two songs. Other than this I really really like the album.

I'm glad this is a sticky. I know Dave doesn't care what the board really thinks, but it'd suck if he came on here and saw what some people were writing about what is an excellent album.

I agree!

I hated making the criticism one a sticky, but we aren't ones to squelch opinions, even if they are wrong!

Yeah you know I'd think the same. But personally I don't think he'd give a flying shit. His band is doing the right thing in his eyes.

The album really grew on me.
Song songs I liked the first time heard them... Home, Summer's End.
Let It Die quickly became my favorite.
Stranger Things, even though I think the chorus could be more energetic is great...

The album definitely is ahead of OBO and IYH. It's not hight because S/T, TINTL and TCATS are really tough to beat.
But I certainly skip less songs on this than on TCATS

Yeah, the chorus could've been better. It's a great song with a decent/good chorus. Still, there isn't a weak song on the album, and that means alot coming from me because I haven't really liked anything they've done since TINLTL.

you know that song Home reminds me of a Who song. It's kind of like that song, Old Red Wine, sounds all melodic and simple.

definately some Who there I think

They should've put Once And For All or whatever that bonus track is, on the album. It fucking rocks. There's my criticism.

I really like The Pretender, Stranger Things have Happened, Erase Replace and Let it Die.
Come Alive, But Honestly and Cheer Up Boys are good.
Long Road to Ruin and Statues are alright.
Home and Summers End are meh.
Ballad of the Beaconsfield Miners is a waste of a track.

Once and For All should've been on the album proper as it is really good too.

the record is great. To me it's a hyrbid of TNTLT and the acoustic disc of In Your Honor. The Pretender is maybe the most well constructed hard rock song in their entire catalog. Love how Let It Die, eases it's way in only to exlode at the finish. Home and But Honestly, are my two favorites, follow closely by Statues (which reminds me of Bowie for some reason). To all the haters: just because it isn't loud doesn't make it a soft or weak effort, you look at some of the best records of all time, not saying this is one of them btw, but how many of them are balls-to-the-wall rock records. maybe one, appitite? all the great records by great artists, beatles (abbey road, white album), zep (II, IV), U2 (Joshua Tree). these aren't aggressive records. Zep IV has what three aggressive numbers? and it's considered the best of their catalog and they were a hard rock band. Truth is when you're sceaming your balls off, and have the amps up to 11, no one really cares what you have to say because they're hypnotized by the noise. But when you strip it back and ease off the gas a bit, you can say what you want to say musically. I'd rather hear what an artist wants to tell me than listen to 45 minutes of guitar feedback on a disc. if you want noise, turn on your washing machine and put your ear to it. I love that this band I love can make me ears bleed and my eyes water on the same record, because for all the hinders, and nickelbacks and whoever flash in the pan modern rock band some reviewer is lumping the foo's into, in 5 years the Foo's will still be here, one of the biggest bands in the world, trying new things every record, challenging their audience. it's sad that some so easily coward at something new.

My opinion of their catalog stands as this

TNLTL
Echoes
Colour And The Shape/In Your Honor
One By One
S/T

Taste IS a funny thing

But I agree that Once And For All AND Bangin' should have been included also..

Do you guys think the order of the songs is good?
I always listen to music in shuffle, but I don't think that The Pretender is a good way to start the album. It makes you think that more explosion rock is on the way, when it's actually not.
