Wicked album! Not their best one but still v. good! Dont not like any of the songs on their. The only slight thing is that some of the songs are quite slow, sort of taking the hard rock out of it. But even the slow songs are gd! 9/10 i would say!

I really liked this CD. "The Pretender" is probably the best song on it and I personally really like "But, Honestly." Is "Summer's End" about what I think it's about?

This is interesting -- I've only heard "In Your Honor" and, more recently, I've gotten very much into "Colour and the Shape." I'm note sure where to go from here. I definitely like "Colour and the Shape" more, so I'm uncertain of whether I should get the new one or go older...

Any advice?

Oh, I forgot to add that the self-titled debut intrigues me. Is it a gem to run out and purchase, or more of a diehard fan's disc?

Thanks!

I just recently bought it. The debut album is now about 13 years old.
There are some really good tracks, some are mosh-style, some are just awful. It's worth getting just to get over the curiosity and to complete your collection.

ESPG is fantastic, really love it !!

Have a nice day everyone, see you next Saturday, woowoo

This album is really good, but not their best.

The best songs are The Pretender, Summer's End and either But, Honestly, Home or Statues.

The rock songs like Erase/Replace and CUB are the weakest tracks. Ballad is essentially non-existent, and the others are average Foo I think.

The album arrangement is really good, just as good as TCATS I think.

We all know this is an albums band, not really one for singles.

In my opinion, every album is unique in it's own way. You can't compare one to another. So, I won't.

ESPG is a stellar album. It took me a while, but I've really gotten into all of the tracks. The one's that were hardest for me to like were 'Cheer up, boys', 'Summer's End', and 'Statues'. Once I got past those three tracks, I saw this as being a really good album. I also saw that every track in itself was different and had a different style to it. I loved that.

Another major plus to this album was that it was still very rockish, but still very sensitive. That part is somewhat hard to explain, so I'll just leave it at that.

All in all, ESPG is a really good album. Not the Foo's best, but close to it. I love it.

F#@K Re: Sing ESPG's Praises Here

ok...
I don't know if I can express my opinion in all its "colours" in a linguage that isn't mine.. but I'll try and I ask sorry before start...
Sorry..

In a time when the platinum album are won by the shaking ass of a very small size, we have in the world some bands that I think give us the chance to continue to believe in the rock music. One of them is the Foo Fighters.
They are grown up in more than ten years and they are one of the most important band in the world now.
"Rock'n roll is dead"
How many times have you ever heard this phrase??
Maybe every rock musician have a tattoo in the heart with this one.
But from In Your Honor and until Echoes.. I have made a new think..
I WANT A LASER FOR DELETE THIS FU****G PHRASE!!!

This album is great!!

Until 5 years ago I read a lot of magazines which talk about foo like "the pop side of Nirvana"..
Naaahhhhh
Now I hope that those peaple have understand who dave is..

The pretender is fantastic!!
They put the acoustic style into rock music..the result is amazing..
My prefer song is Home..for the music..for the words.. for everithing..but Echoes is one of the few album that I hear from the beginning to the end without stop one song for play another one..

I think they have lost them pop side..for go to the 7th heaven (or hell???) of rock.. because they have riff..great drum..great voice..grat melody..

Listen "ballads of the beaconsfield miners".. perfect..

thank you guys..

I love this album, the only song I didn't like off it was summer's end.

I think my top favorite 5 from this are:
Come Alive
But Honestly
The Pretender
Cheer Up Boys
Home

I don't know if exactly in that order though...

Wink Re: Sing ESPG's Praises Here

...Let's face it...

...The album is a milestone effort for the band...

...I have been a Foo fan from the giddy-up go...and I sense Dave & Co. are maturing and evolving quite nicely as a cohesive unit...kinda like good wine...they seem to just keep gettin' better with age...

...Long story short...I bought the album the day after they rock'd the Grammies outside the Staples Center...I record'd it to VHS(old school I know)...and play'd it back numerous times to find that I only had one thing left to do...go pick up the cd...so I did...and as I listen'd thru the first say dozen times...I thought...WOW...this is one killer album...and my neighbors probably realize that by now too...lol....

...Upon seein' that the Foo was comin' to Red Rocks...I thought...ok...I'm there...however, to make it all the more special...I thought I would treat my neice n' nephew who are 16 n' 15 respectively to their first major venue concert...Shay...my neice...is a huge Nirvana fan...and yes, please don't start...I know this ain't Nirvana...but she loves the Foo...and understands where some of Dave's humble beginnings lie...anyways...I had quite a fallin' out with these two last year...07 was not good to me...in oh so many ways...but the most hurtful part was the wedge that develop'd between them n' me...followin' a rather traumatic family disturbance that wound up with the cops showin' up...suffice to say...as I listen'd to the 100th spin of Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace in late march this year...I felt this pangin' at my heart...it was sayin'...bond with these two quick...before it's too late...so I broke the ice...went for a swim...and Shay n ' Trent n' I will be 17th row dead center on Sept. 9th(or closer if possible, with our GA's)...for the show of our lifes...so thank you for the inspiration Dave...it certainly help'd...I won't let it die.

...DC...
