Dave hasnt quit smoking! I heard an interview recently where Dave was talking about how he was so nervous about recording "Statues" for ESPG that he was pacing up his driveway, chain smoking to soothe his nerves before he left for the studio. Maybe he is just saying he's quit, to stop any backlash from anti- smoking groups?

no preaching for me...do what you want ...x smoker. I did it cold turkey-after my mom, my uncle, and grandmother died of cancer! I decided-screw this and kicked it when on my most stressed out day-just freed myself and never went back....Sometimes I dream of smoking tho' -this is so crazy- I wake up smelling smoke, it really bugs me! Then again, i have some freaky dreams! Kung Foo fighting, LOL!

I started smoking when I was 18 years old. I was a non-smoker & anti-smoking before that. Why I started smoking is another story........I'm 43 years now. The only time I stopped smoking was when I was preggers with my child. I should not have started again but what the heck....tell that to an addict... BUT I only smoke when I do not bother the kids or non-smokers in general with the smoke. I do not mind to smoke outside or elsewhere. I don't want to give up smoking yet. I can stay *smoke-free* for hours if I have to or are not allowed to smoke but I don't want to give up. It's a matter of the brain. I'm not ready yet. I think I will never be ready to give up smoking- only if my health tells me to give up but that might be too late then anyway. I like smoking. I know it's not healthy and all that jazz. I have survived so many people already who never smoked or touched a glass of wine/ or worse for instance. I have good genes, I survived tuberculosis at the age of 5, pneumonias etc. At my last health check-up my doc said to me: ''You are blessed and if you go on like this you will turn 100 years old'' - Well, I bloody hope so! I know this is stupid to make excuses. Nicotine is worse than taking hard drugs. Tell that to every young girl & boy and tell them to think TWICE before EVER smoking a ciggie.
I smoke Marlboro Red. The only brand one can smoke. If I can't have them I don't smoke at all.

Read my posting above. What has this got to do with a baby in his life? I had a baby in my life and smoked. What you have to do is smoke outside and not in the houses nor closed rooms when you have children around. AND do not smoke while taking the baby/ies or children for that matter for a stroll/ walk- that's disgusting, walking around with young kids and having a ciggie dangling from your mouth.... Smoking is a serious addiction and hard to beat for most of the nicotine addicts. As I have said. It's a matter of the brain and the WILLPOWER to actually give it up for good. If the will is weak NOTHING can stop you from smoking.

Basically it says, over time, you trained yourself to smoke at certain times of the day, every day and human nature is- we are creatures of habit-most of the time. We like routine.

If you really want to stop smoking-you have dedicate at least 30 days to "un-train" or retrain your mind to do something else rather than reach for a cigarette. For example, if you reach for a cigarette while having a cup of coffee, delay reaching for the cigarette for a few minutes, and consciously reach for something else like a toothpick or a stick of gum. You have to put the alternative object in the same place you put your pack of cigarettes.
You can un-train yourself to do anything! I personally have to untrain myself from $$hopping! Reach for that toothpick or gum at the checkout!

Red face Re: dave's cigarettes

I just stopped, dead, 22 years ago. Sometimes even now, it kills me not to be able to have a smoke and I do keep a very old and battered pack with 6 1/2 cigarettes still in it, for times of the deepest, direst emergency!

I don't know about Dave Grohl and his willpower. I don't want to give up smoking. So there goes my willpower.....Each to their own? I have a perfectly healthy child btw because as I mentioned before I only smoke when I don't bother any non-smoking person and I open the windows too.

LOL regarding the toothpick....
I live up North on the East coast and it's not very hot around here at the moment. This morning it was actually freezing cold outside. I hate that. I'm more the summer type of person.
