Default Passwords

Do you it's lame we don't allow pre-sale passwords on the board?

Yes or no?

Facebook is going to be publishing them so should we not bother flipping out about it?

Let me know. I get a lot of fucking e-mails and PM's about passwords. I'm kinda tired of it.

Thoughts?

(New here, so sorry)

I understand in the past about not posting them here, it being something reserved for the fans who get the mailings and all that. But now a days with FB posting it, is it really that big of a deal?

If they don't get it here, they'll just get it from the bands FB page which they can get to from the main site.

I doubt it is worth the complaining or PM's anymore.

just my .02 cents worth

It would be ideal if they did a pre-pre-sale for those of us signed up for the newsletters and emails, but that's just super wishful thinking.

I think you should do whatever it is that makes your life a lot less aggravating, Jill. The passwords are out there for anyone who really wants them.

I don't think it's a big deal any longer since they're so freely distributed on facebook and twitter now.

I noticed they just gave the passcode for the next round of shows on facebook.

Yep, I just saw this, too right after my last post. Somehow I don't feel so special anymore for getting the emails. Mine hasn't come yet and now I don't really need it, do I?

Oh well, whatever gets me a chance to get tickets a little bit earlier I'll take it!

I know, me too. It was nice when we were just a small little club. Damn interwebz and their communication devices!

I don't care either way. But it's less work for you guys if you don't have to monitor posts for passwords anymore.

Agree, posting passwords everywhere takes away from the purpose of "presale". Not much one can do about it any more. Just super happy the time is here to buy their concert tickets!

The hard part is when published presale codes end up not working...when that happens I come here with hopes of sorting out the confusion.

Might as well just post them on here, that way you don't have to keep answering the same questions over and over and over again! (See what I did there? I know obscure song)

They do care. That's not the issue. I was given the password a while ago and told I could put it up on the board. Since that isn't our policy I was thinking I don't want you guys to miss out getting it first.

Management wants you guys to get some benefits. It's just that it's all going to be on FB and twitter too. It's marketing and that's just how things have changed.

there must be a system for individual passwords per email address or something. maybe each password gets you 2 tickets to your name?

at least it'd stop one link and one password being spread all over the web thru facebook and twitter for the losers who aren't signed up to the mailing list

i'm sure it's possible, but i doubt it'll happen.

yeah, I might have made a statement without knowing more of it, but I keep my answer as yes, because if FB and twitter will have it, I think we should too, even more since it's a place where people go because of the band, not just socialize. and I'm speaking more for the situation in general since they don't play here often (just once, 10 years ago), so it's not just for me.

I think with social media it is a losing battle.

I posted it up. Check out Tour Talk and my Presale thread.

Facebook has more followers then this board ever has and I might as well embrace the changes.

Godspeed little password. May everyone who is deserving get it.

Yes, you should tell us first so we can feel special. That's really what it's all about isn't it?

I can hide Tour Talk but the band wants people to read the board and get info.

It's all going to be ok. The Touts and Scalpers are already on our mailing list I am fairly sure so it's kind of silly. I would be on every rockband mailing list if I was a scum like that.

The only other solution I can think of to try and weed out scalpers and such would be Pearl Jam's ten club model. Members pay a yearly fee ($20 or $40) and get first access to tickets and other stuff. When you buy tickets from their presale you have to be a current member and they are will call only. There are downsides to this model though : servers often crash when they host the sales, logistics are likely a pain in the ass, added cost to distribute at the venue, and the fee to be in the club kind of sucks.
