I'd booked something that's cancellable so wasn't terribly important. I've heard hamburg is a cool city to visit for the weekend as well.
I'd definitely be up for it though, day ticket would be better as I'm going to Glastonbury the following weds (wooh)!

As it's an off-tour year it all depends who makes them big enough offers to play. If nobody in the UK makes the offers, they won't play here. Not big shows anyway, they could still land here first for a small warm up.

They have been to Europe on a few occasions without playing shows in the UK. They've even stopped in the UK but not played shows, like 2009 when they just did Jools Holland.

I was busy five days ago, I'll tell ya! Anyway, my understanding is that when a band isn't on tour the cost to 'lure' them out to play is a lot more. Although I'm not sure how that changes when they're already in the area, but I suppose they can still hard-ball and say "Yeah we're in Germany but we're out of there the next day unless you want to flash the big $$$s to keep us there"

So It simply comes down to if any festival owners have the money that FF want to play off-tour shows. The rumours were R&L didn't even want to spend the cash on them this year (or couldn't) when on tour, hence the garbage they served up. So will they spend more next year? Depends how desperate they are to appease the disappointed rockers this year I guess.

As ever, we can only wait and see.

They've got no reason to appease rock fans, their dire lineup still sold out and a whole new demographic is attached to the festival

Surely an older demographic would have more spending power, on merch and drinks for example? Can't imagine they sold many kenrick lamar shirts at £30 a pop. When I went to reading as a teenager that was more than I had for the whole weekend! Admittedly that was a while back, am old now

This is a great point. A sold out young crowd, overall, is likely to have less cash to spend than a sold out older crowd. Never thought of that before.

My point is they're now building a new demographic of people that will go every year, I've got friends who have already bought tickets because of last years lineup and its all over social media.

This years lineup could be pretty telling of readings future, if they decide to embrace the pop acts that'll be it for rock acts there imo

Same as my friends going to Glastonbury every year I suppose. The rumours are that it's stormzy and the spice girls headlining this year. So yay....

It's almost like Reading has turned into V these days! I don't know that I'll go if it's another radio one line up.
