As a singer, it's actually easier to soldier on with a broken leg than a shot voice. If you can't sing, you can't sing.

I guess the problem there though, is that it's Sweden. Where he broke the leg. Where they vowed to come back and do a proper show. But would another show with him not at his best be worthy of it? Tough decision I guess.
Exactly.

It's a tough call but that's what doctors are for.

Ask any doc if you have a cold / bronchitis / laryngitis / whatever that would it be ok to jog around and sweat for 3 hours with a 4kg weight slung over your shoulder and scream constantly while doing it. Guess the answer is simple after all.

Sad for all those going but IMO it would be plain dumb not to cancel. He's only human after all.

Yeah I mean he's already given a very public demonstration of the problem, everyone can hear it, so it's not like anyone could have any qualms with them cancelling. Not like when an artist just cancels shows with a sketchy reason and you suspect shenanigans.

People would of course be disappointed, but I'm sure all but the heartless would understand.

that is the issue isn't it... why did it have to be THAT show!

It would not be my choice for them, but... I bet he'll play it.

(ETA and I sure hope I'm wrong, because I don't want him damaging his voice and ruining my gig, all for people who already got to see a legendary show 3 years ago... not fair )

That said...a show with Taylor out front and Dave on the kit...now that'd switch things up!

(I'm only half joking)

Seriously...And we were guffawing at Chris when he was reading off his phone for Carpool Karaoke. Turns out it's rife in this band. Maybe the crowd should come prepared with cue cards...

Unhappy Re: Rock am Ring live stream thread

If they dont cancel Sweden im all up for a special show where Dave sings only a few mellow songs and Taylor and Chris sings whatever they can. They pulled of the wedding band last time in Sweden. But for Daves health and voice sake i do not see them pulling this one off without damaging his voice for the rest of the tour or worse...

Unless they can quickly reschedule for a little later this year. I wouldn’t be surprised if the gig & the Antwerp gig got cancelled. I’m going to Antwerp and would rather him rest his voice for Manchester & London.

I would hope they have some sensible doctors who will make the decision for him. As much as he won't want to let people down, I'm sure everyone would rather he didn't do a permanent injury to his voice. And he's poorly, you could see he wasn't feeling great yesterday! When you're sick, you're sick.
I'm going to Paris and would rather he cancel that to be able to do the UK gigs.

When bands play on with damaged vocal it doesn’t work long term.... placebo last year pushed on to play shows in London when Molko had damaged vocals and he sounded awful and then ended up having to cancel a whole bunch of other shows that followed.

He’s not a young man anymore, old guy has to take care of himself!

Check Instagram, DG's vocals are sounding very good! Never would have bet on it but seems he's healed super quick!
